Electronic health records (EHR) built for Nepali clinics

Complete, searchable patient history — vitals, allergies, notes, prescriptions and lab results in one file.

A patient's history is only useful if you can find it when the patient is in front of you. In a paper-file clinic that means someone walking to a cabinet; in a spreadsheet clinic it means scrolling and hoping the row is up to date. D. Clinic keeps every patient's full record in one place that any authorised member of your team can open in seconds.

What sits in the record

Each patient in D. Clinic has a single electronic health record that holds:

  • Demographics and contact details, with the phone number used for SMS reminders
  • Visit history — every consultation, the doctor seen, the complaint and the notes
  • Vitals recorded at each visit — blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, and more
  • Allergies and long-term conditions, flagged so a doctor sees them before prescribing
  • Prescriptions issued over time, so repeat medication is one click, not a re-write
  • Lab orders and results, attached to the visit they belong to

Because it is one record rather than a folder of loose pages, a doctor seeing a patient for the second time opens the full picture immediately — including notes written by a different doctor at a different visit.

Search that actually finds people

Patients are searchable by name, phone number or registration number. Nepali names are often spelled several ways in English, so partial matches and phone-number search matter: a receptionist who only has a mobile number can still pull up the right patient without creating a duplicate.

When a patient does turn out to have two records — common when a clinic is moving off paper — the histories can be kept together so nothing is lost.

Built for a team, with the right access for each role

Not everyone should see everything. In D. Clinic:

  • Doctors see full clinical history and write notes and prescriptions
  • Receptionists register patients, book appointments and handle billing, without clinical note access
  • Pharmacists and lab technicians see only what they need to dispense medicine or process tests

You decide who has which role, and the record shows who wrote what and when. That is both safer for patients and clearer for you when you need to check what happened at a past visit.

Kept secure and backed up

Patient data in D. Clinic is encrypted in transit and at rest, and backed up automatically — so a failed hard drive or a lost laptop does not mean lost records. Access is controlled by role and tied to named accounts, not a shared password on a sticky note. You can read more on our data security page.

EHR vs EMR — and what a Nepali clinic actually needs

You will see both terms used. An EMR is essentially a digital version of one clinic's paper chart; an EHR is designed to hold a fuller, shareable picture of a patient over time. For a growing practice in Nepal the practical difference is whether your system can keep up as you add doctors, a pharmacy and a lab — which is exactly what D. Clinic is built to do. Appointments, records, prescriptions, billing and tests are one connected system, so the patient record is never the weak link.

If you are digitising an existing clinic, you can import your current patient list and start building history from the first visit — you do not need to back-enter years of files to get value on day one.
